My Bio

Carlos Velasco was born in Quinindé, in the Province of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. At the age of six, his family moved to the port city of Guayaquil, where his passion for soccer truly began. Like many South American players, Carlos developed his early skills playing in the streets until the age of 14, when he transitioned into organized soccer academies throughout Guayaquil. He competed in youth leagues and tournaments until the age of 18.

As a young adult, Carlos played collegiate soccer at the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) in Ecuador for two years. During that same period, he competed in Ecuador’s Second Division League with Deportivo Everest and Club Deportivo ADN, gaining valuable experience at the professional level.

In 2003, Carlos moved to Saint Charles, Missouri to continue his education and soccer career at Lindenwood University, competing in the NAIA collegiate league. In 2005, he relocated to Fresno, California to attend Fresno Pacific University, where he played two additional seasons of collegiate soccer. He graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and later earned a Master’s Degree in Finance and International Banking in 2010.

Carlos began his coaching career in 2007 with the Sunbirds School of Soccer at Fresno Pacific University. He also served as Assistant Coach for the Fresno Pacific University Men’s Soccer Program from 2007 to 2013, helping develop collegiate athletes both on and off the field.

In 2014, he founded California Youth Sports Management Inc., creating international pathways and competitive opportunities for young players. From 2015 to 2017, he coached at Force North Soccer Club in San Mateo, California. Throughout his career, Carlos has organized and led international travel teams competing in various European countries, providing players with global exposure and high-level competition.

In 2020, he established FC Fresno Academy, a youth soccer club based in Fresno, California. Through the academy, he has coached youth teams ranging from U-9 to U-16, focusing on long-term player development, technical excellence, and international standards.

Carlos has further strengthened his coaching knowledge through professional development experiences at internationally recognized clubs and academies, including GNK Dinamo Zagreb, RCD Espanyol, Real Betis Balompié, Sport Lisboa Benfica, Real Madrid CF, among others. His philosophy combines South American creativity, European structure, and American collegiate experience to provide a complete developmental pathway for young athletes.
